Hirshabelle Cooperative Alliance (H.I.C.A) unites, connects and develops the cooperatives working in Hirshabelle State, Somalia. Hirshabelle State is made up of Hiiraan and Middle Shabelle, joined by the Shabelle River. Its farms grow maize, sorghum, sesame and fruit, and its rangelands support camels, cattle, goats and sheep. Floods and droughts hit both, which is why farmers and herders do better together.
